PlaceMaker Consultation – Baw Baw Shire

All are invited to a meeting with the Jindivick Community to be held on Thursday 23 January 2020 to discuss the Jindivick Placemaking Program.

Following a meeting at the end of October with Alison Leighton, CEO of Baw Baw Shire Council, we are committed to working with the Jindivick community to determine a Placemaking project. The Placemaking Program sets out to develop a project that results in the creation of public space that Contributes to people’s health, happiness, wellbeing and adds to the physical and social character of Jindivick. Possible project ideas raised so far by the Jindivick community include:

  • Parking & Pedestrian Movement Issues on Jacksons Track,
  • Drainage Issues on Jacksons Track,
  • Painted Splitter Island at the Intersection of Jacksons Track and Main Jindivick Road,
  • Fencing around the Cricket Oval,
  • Lookout Tower at Kydd Parke Reserve,
  • Street Lighting on Jacksons Track,
  • Prominent Speed Reduction Signs at the Entrances of Jindivick.

A meeting will be held on Thursday 23 January at 7:30pm at the Jindivick Public Hall to discuss potential projects and what the next steps are. Following discussions about the Placemaking Program, there will be an opportunity to discuss the proposed footpath on Jacksons Track.

A survey will be opened on 30 January to establish the preferred project based on the suggestions listed above and any additional, viable ideas received by 2pm on the 28 January 2020. The survey will be available to all Jindivick residents online and via hardcopy forms. After the survey closes on 13 February, Council will close the loop with the Jindivick community and ensure that the Placemaking Program delivers a project that supports better health, happiness and wellbeing for people and adds to the physical and social character of the town.
